Following the Prime Minister’s call in 2020 to plant one billion trees, and coordinate to implement the goal of 20 million trees of Thailand’s Charoen Pokphand Group. CP Vietnam Livestock Joint Stock Company (CPV) has implemented a tree planting project called “CP Vietnam – Journey for a green Vietnam 2021 – 2025”. The goal of the project is to plant 1 million trees in Vietnam, in the provinces where the company has production and business activities and some provinces where the forest has been destroyed by natural disasters.
Thua Thien – Hue is a province in the Central Central region, the whole province currently has a forest land area of 304,081 hectares according to the announcement of the current status in 2021. According to statistics, the forest area of the province is decreasing due to the process of exploitation. inappropriate exploitation, as well as the effects of natural disasters and climate. The authorities of Thua Thien – Hue province have been taking many measures to prevent and restore forests through the planting of new and additional forest areas in a sustainable way.
In the process of learning about the implementation of the above project in Thua Thien – Hue province, through the connection with the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the company saw the need of the province in coordinating afforestation in Phong Dien district, which is a district. where the company has the business of Seafood Processing Factory, and some local shrimp farms. This is also one of the provinces in the company’s sustainable tree planting project called “CP Vietnam – Journey for a green Vietnam 2021-2025”, with the goal of contributing to environmental protection, towards is a business for environmental sustainability.
Through surveying a number of forests, finding out and reaching agreement, Vietnam Joint Stock Company decided to cooperate with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Thua Thien – Hue province, and the Song Bo Protection Forest Management Board to plant and take care of the forest. Protection forest towards sustainable direction at Lot 4, Sub-zone 67, Phong Xuan commune, Phong Dien district, on an area of 30 hectares, corresponding to 25,000 forest trees of the types Huynh, Gao Vang and Re Ginger which are perennial woody plants. The year has the function of protecting forests, keeping the land against erosion, and preventing floods.
On November 1, CPV Company cooperated with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Thua Thien – Hue province and the Song Bo Protection Forest Management Board to start afforestation activities in the above area. The representative of CPV Company was Mr. Banchong Buahung – Executive Vice President of Aquaculture Feed and Shrimp Farm, Mr. Worawit Arunraksa – Assistant Deputy General Manager, Sustainability Department Manager, along with a number of employees. Hue seafood processing factory, and Hue shrimp farm, Quang Tri also participated. On the side of the authorities of Thua Thien – Hue province, there were Mr. Nguyen Dai Anh Tuan – Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr. Le Ngoc Tuan – Director of the Forest Protection Department, Mr. Pham Ngoc Dung – Director of the Forest Management Board. Song Bo households and some local people participated in afforestation.

Through the kick-off session, more than 2000 trees were planted, and the afforestation project will be completed in December 2022 with a care period of 6 years from 2022-2027.
In addition to afforestation in Thua Thien – Hue province, in 2021 CPV successfully planted 40 hectares of mangroves in Ben Tre province with a survival rate of 95%, contributing to the protection of Ba Lai River and reducing erosion. erosion, increasing green space, contributing to biodiversity.
